The Ninth International Conference on Health and Environment : Global Partners for Global Solutions on the theme entitled "Solutions for the Millennium" organized by World Information Transfer, (WIT), a non-profit organization will focused on issues of the environmental impact to human health, and is being sponsored by the Governments of Indonesia and Uganda, at the United Nations Headquarters, on April 26-28, 2000. The Conference will address solutions to health problems caused by environmental degradation from four perspectives: spiritual, governmental, scientific and the media. Many prominent personalities will participate including, the star of TV's hit program, Dawson's Creek and James Van Der Beek. They are expected to speak on the responsibility of youth to get involved with world issues in order to make a positive difference. On Friday morning, April 28, they will also participate during the media segment, co-sponsored by WHO. World Information Transfer was established, in response to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986, when the intentional withholding of health information by the Soviet government caused severe disabilities and numerous deaths of people who might have otherwise lived normal and healthy lives. Over the past eight years, the Health and Environment Conference has established itself as one of the regular events at the Untied Nations where physicians, scientists and diplomatic experts share original material and information with their peers, leaders of non-governmental organizations and medical and science students. This year's program will focus on some of the solutions to the environmental trends adversely affecting human health. The papers presented will also address specific programs around the world, which are restoring environments and the health of the people that live within these surroundings. Furthermore, it is expected that international experts from North America, Asia, Africa and Europe will present papers over the course of the two and a half-day event. _______________________ New York, 25 April 2000
