Press Statement issued by
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia and
The Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste
Regarding the Membership Composition of
the Commission of Truth and Friendship

As a follow up
measure to the agreement reached by the leaders of the Government
of the Republic of Indonesia and the leaders of the Democratic Republic
of Timor Leste in Bali on 14 December 2004 with respect to the establishment
of the Commission of Truth and Friendship (CTF) and taking into
consideration that the CTF Terms of Reference were concluded by
the two sides in Jakarta on 9 March 2005, the Government of Indonesia
and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, having
made their selection respectively and after duly consulting each
other, do hereby announce the CTF composition which consists of
10 persons of high standing and competence, as follows :
For the Indonesian side : Mr. Achmad
Ali, Mr. Wisber Loeis, Mr. Benjamin Mangkudilaga, Mgr. Petrus Turang
and Mr. Agus Widjojo.
For the Timor Leste side : Mr. Jacinto
Alves, Mr. Dionisio Babo, Mr. Aniceto Guterres, Ms. Felicidade Guterres
and Mr. Cirilio Cristovão.

In keeping with
the understanding recently reached by the Government of Indonesia
and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, the
CTF members, in fulfilling their mandate, could be assisted by 3
alternates from each side. The names of the alternates will be announced
later.

The CTF, having its composition
duly finalized, will commence its work as soon as possible.

The CTF will conduct
its preliminary consultations with a view to reaching an agreed
arrangement regarding the CTF working procedures, its reporting
mechanism, the elections of the CTF co-chairmen, the possibility
of establishing sub-commissions, the possibility of having technical
support office, etc.

The Joint Secretariat
of the CTF shall be in Denpasar, Bali.

Considering its
demanding task and high responsibility, the CTF will benefit from
a supporting team and an assistance by the secretariat.
