Participation in International Culture Festival
Nassau, 17-18 October 2004

The
Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas
participated in a two day International Cultural Event in Nassau, Bahamas,
17-18 October 2004. 50 Participants including 34 countries participated
in the annual event which offered cultural performance, food bazaar and
handicraft from the various participants. The Indonesian Booth won Second
prize overall and first prize among Asian countries in the category of
Booth Decoration.

Ambassador
Rezlan Ishar Jenie,presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor-General
of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Her Excellency Dame Ivy Dumont,
D.C.M.G., on the 24 June 2004
During his official
visit to Nassau from 22 – 25 June 2004, His Excellency Ambassador
Rezlan Ishar Jenie, presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor-General
of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Her Excellency Dame Ivy Dumont,
D.C.M.G., on the 24 June 2004 at the Government House, Nassau. The official
ceremony was followed immediately by a luncheon hosted by the Governor-General
and Mr. Reginald Dumont.
The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Sally Yukari Budiadjo
Jenie, Mr. Desra Percaya, Minister Counsellor (Political Affairs) and
Mr. Jonny Sinaga, First Secretary (Polical Affairs) of the Permanent
Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations
During his visit, the Ambassador conducted a call on the Minister of
Foreign Affairs and the Public Service, The Honourable Frederick Mitchell
and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr.
Patricia Rodgers, followed by a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the
Republic of Haiti / Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in The Bahamas, His
Excellency Louis Harold Joseph, the British High Commissioner, His Excellency
Roderick Gemmell, O.B.E, the Ambassador of the People Republic of China,
His Excellency Dongcun Jiao and the Chargé d' Affaires, a.i.,
of the Embassy of the United States of America Mr. Robert Witajewski,.
On 24 June 2004 the Ambassador also hosted an informal dinner inviting
the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Public Services, The Honourable
Frederick Mitcell, MP, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry
of Trade and Industry Mrs. Helen Ebong, and other senior officials from
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The
30th Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Bahamas, 10 July 2003
The Indonesian Embassy
participated in a series of celebration activities for the 30th Anniversary
of the Independence Day of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas from 7 to
10 July 2003.
The range of activities included a reception
by the Governor General of the Bahamas for the diplomatic corps, flag
raising ceremony and fireworks, Junkanoo festival and a state reception.
Ambassador Rezlan Ishar Jenie headed the Indonesian delegation for the
visit. While attending the 30th Anniversary of the Independence Day
of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Ambassador Rezlan Jenie paid an
official visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth
of the Bahamas, H.E. Hon. Frederick Mitchell on 9 July 2003. Ambassador
Jenie also took the opportunity to meet with the dean of the diplomatic
corps for the Bahamas, Ambassador Harold Joseph of Haiti.
The Indonesian Embassy also held a business luncheon on 9 July 2003
to discuss the possibility of enhancing bilateral trade between the
two countries. This meeting was attended by representatives from the
Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the
Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and the Indonesian Honorary Council in the
Bahamas ****
